Fashion Intermediate Draping


Starts Thursday January 10th, 2019


In this 4 Sessions the students will learn:

-Mold the fabric to fit the curves of the body

-Manipulate the fabric to create folds, darts, pleats.

-Learn how to use draping techniques to change the bust fullness into a single dart, gathered fullness, multiple pleats and empire seams.

-Develop a basic sleeve block with the correct amount of ease allowance, cap size, and measurements.

-Pivot or walk the sleeve into the bodice armhole, determine sleeve ease, and place the sleeve cap notches.

-Drape soft fabric cut on bias into fitted asymmetric halter or cowl designs.

-Visualize and true up the bodice patterns with shirring and pleats in relationship to the figure, with the correct amount of ease allowance, armhole size, waistline shape, measurement, and balance.

  • 1 dress form.

  • Dressmaker pins

  • pattern weights

  • Tape measure

  • Draping tape

  • Different rulers

If you want to bring your own materials to class that is ok, you will need your own materials for homework.
